Cedar Creek opened the season Thursday at Memorial Stadium on the wrong end of a 47-0 loss to Del Valle.
The loss was the Eagles' 36th consecutive, dating back to the 2021 season. The skid ranks in the top 10 in the nation, according to Stateline Sports Network.
Cedar Creek first-year coach Jared Shaw inherited a program in ruins. Shaw's predecessor, Josh Thomas, compiled a 1-39 record in four disastrous seasons.
The Cardinals beat down Cedar Creek's defense behind running back Bradley Dent, who rushed for 217 yards and scored on runs of 7, 2, and 27 yards. Dent, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound senior, displayed quickness through the holes. In addition, he wasn't shy about running through tacklers.

"He plays like he's 220," Del Valle head coach Colin Williams said about Dent.
Williams, a first-year coach from LBJ, gained his first victory as a head coach.
"A win is always good to have, but there are a lot of things we need to work on to be better," he said. "I'm proud of the guys for getting it done."
Top on the list of corrections is reducing the penalties.
"We have to clean (that) up as coaches," he said.

Del Valle jumped to a 19-0 in the first quarter on two touchdown runs by Dent and a 6-yard blast by sophomore First Green. Green added 27 yards on five carries.
"He runs hard," Williams said about Green. "He's a bright spot. There's not a dropoff with him."
Dent's only miscue was a fumble in the first quarter recovered by Cedar Creek defensive back Jesus Puente.
Cedar Creek's offense was hurt by numerous false start penalties.

Running back Anthony Scott proved to be Cedar Creek's primary weapon, gaining 82 yards on 23 carries. But he fumbled in the first quarter, which Del Valle converted into a touchdown.
In the second quarter, Del Valle defensive back Derick Leblanc intercepted a pass and sped 53 yards for a touchdown.
Del Valle scored twice in the third quarter, the first on a short pass from Trevon Lias-Hill to Kaden Nunez, who sped past Cedar Creek defenders for a 50-yard touchdown.
Substitute quarterback Josiah Harris scored from the three following a Cedar Creek dropped ball on a punt attempt.
Cedar Creek starting quarterback Dalton Whited completed 4-of-13 passes for 40 yards and had one interception. Whited exited the game at the start of the fourth quarter with an injury and did not return.
Del Valle's Lias-Hill completed 5-of-8 for 71 yards and no interceptions.
Cedar Creek visits Akins in a non-district matchup at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Akins downed the Eagles 42-29 last season.
